The John Rae Society (external link) (opens in new tab) is looking for new Trustees to lead its exciting Hall of Clestrain projects, which will transform the childhood home of pioneering Arctic explorer John Rae into a world-renowned visitor attraction and community resource, sharing his remarkable place in the history of Orkney and Arctic exploration.
The Society currently has 6 trustees and seeks up to 6 more. They want passionate individuals dedicated to public education and heritage preservation, proactive and engaged in Board discussions. The commitment is 1-2 days per month, including Board meetings and an annual strategy away day in Orkney. There is also an opportunity to participate in working groups.
The Society is particularly seeking applications from people with the following skills and experience:
- Charity governance
- Finance
- Fundraising
- Historic buildings conservation
- Volunteer management & support
- Construction project management
They are also looking for Trustees to fulfil the following roles:
- Treasurer
- Charity Secretary
- Lead Fundraising Trustee
- Lead Marketing and Communications Trustee
